More Information

Meet great people!

This is an incredible tour through lots of Japan's pottery towns and much more. Travel with like-minded folks, meet multi-generational potters, watch demonstrations, explore wood-fired kilns, and engage directly with Japanese ceramic history.  Each day will be guided by an English speaking, knowledgable, Japanese person, who really adds a lot to the tour. They can answer most questions you'll have.

More than Pottery

The tour also include iconic sightseeing destinations such as incredible temples, shrines, museums, and galleries. Enjoy hands-on workshops in a variety of mediums and, of course, incredible food! Each day features a full, thoughtfully planned itinerary.

The Six Ancient Kilns of Japan: Bizen, Echizen, Seto, Shigaraki, Tamba and Tokoname, refer to the town, not a specific kiln." These areas have been making pottery continously since medieval times.  The term was coined by a historic ceramics scholar, Fujio Koyama, in 1948,
and the Six Ancient Kilns were designated as Japan Heritage sites in 2017." https://en.sixancientkilns.jp
